My personal life.

It's interesting what some people become offended about.

I recently put a post on FaceBook that said I might need to get "snipped" (aka a vasectomy). It was a regular post - something I have no problem with anyone else knowing - and yet my mom was quite disappointed.

But really, what's the big deal?

MY personal life is MY personal life. If I decide to join a band of gypsies, it is my business. If I decide to have another child, it is my business. And if I decide to have a surgery performed so I won't have any more children, it is my business.

Unless...

If I knowingly choose to share that information with my friends and family via my blog or my Facebook page, that is ALSO MY BUSINESS. It has nothing to do with my parents. It has nothing to do with my religious beliefs. It has nothing to do with anything.

My opinion is simple: if you don't want to know my business, stay away. You KNOW that I talk about sensitive topics. You KNOW that I'm not ashamed of who I am. If it's such a burden to you, then ignore me. Don't read this blog. Don't read my Facebook updates. It's not that hard.

I hate it that someone wants to control what I say for their *own* comfort level. This blog isn't about "The Dopps Family." It's about me. Deal with it.

***now I'm truly disowned, I fear***

What you say is true, but it is also disrespectful, inconsiderate, and selfish. Go right ahead and enjoy your freedom of speech...but I won't be reading your blog any longer.

If you feel the way your final statement indicates: feeling that you may be disowned, why write this stuff? Why do you have to write that it was your mom instead of just a random person. Why try to make her look foolish, nosy, or like a "bad guy." I don't really get it. Why write about the incident at all? Are you TRYING to stir stuff up? I'm just asking because it sometimes seems like it based on past stuff that I've read on your blog. If you think that your writings are going to have negative effects, why not just leave those thoughts in your head. What good does it do, really?
